Welcome!  Today’s SHEro Carol Lee, shares how she turned to food to numb the pain of the tragic death of her husband.

Her diet, high in sugar, eventually caught up with her, causing panic attacks, anxiety issues, and reactive depression.  She knew she HAD to change, so she worked to use food to heal her.

Join me for an inspiring conversation with Carol!

Carol has worked in complementary health since 1993, both as a 5-element acupuncturist and as a nutritional therapist.  She combines the everyday with the spiritual, walking with a foot in both worlds.

She helps people make simple, practical changes in how they eat and cook to create a more nourishing and flourishing life.

In this episode, Carol shares:

  • How she discovered a platform for telling people about the negative aspects of the pre-packaged diet food industry via an “Aha” moment 15 years ago

  • How her passion for food and nutrition shaped her life’s path.  She even left her work as a social worker for full-time motherhood, and then for training as a nutritional therapist

  • How she listened to her intuition and never regretted the decision

  • How Carol used healthy foods and solid nutrition to help boost her husband’s health during his cancer treatment

  • How Carol, during another “Aha” moment, realised that she had to look after herself before she could look after her sick husband and two sons

  • How Carol practices self-care by walking daily and preparing the healthy foods she wants to eat, even if they may not be what her sons would prefer

  • Another “Aha” moment involved Carol’s writing a book to raise money for a children’s charity

  • Handling “Aha” moments means you have to be open to them and TAKE ACTION

  • Carol’s biggest success are her books and the fact that she’s still inspired and trying to make a difference

Biggest Learning:

“Not to be a food Nazi.  It’s more about meeting people where they are.”

Welcome!  Today’s SHEro Tabitha Jayne (Tabi), who shares how she went from a troubled young person to a published author, international speaker, eco-psychologist, and natural growth consultant.

She helps people create meaningful and purposeful, stress-free lives and businesses with the help of nature. She is the creator of The Nature Process and Tree of Transformation.

Join me for an inspiring conversation with Tabi!

Tabi’s life turned around when she was 22 and her younger brother, age 17, was killed in a car accident.

Until that point, she used drugs and alcohol to mask the pain of a troubled childhood that included being bullied at school and a rape incident at age 16.  It was the loss of her brother that motivated her to stop 'wasting her life' and to begin pursuing her dreams.

In this episode, Tabi discusses:

  • Tabi realised that our society does not deal with death well. She had to find ways to work through her grief, which led her to rediscover nature that she had loved as a child.

  • She noticed that when she spent more time outside that she felt better.

  • She found trees to have a magical quality and shares the inspirational story of climbing a tree that brought her back into fellowship and harmony with nature.

  • Tabi found a way to merge her two loves of nature and psychology to become an “eco-psychologist.” She learned how to use coaching to articulate and teach others.

  • Tabi shares how her journey of the last five years has involved connecting with others through the power of nature. “The future belongs to those who are nature-smart.”—Richard Louv

  • Tabi addresses the dilemma of how modern society can balance technology and nature.

  • Everything in nature has a path of growth and renewal just like we, as humans, need growth and renewal.

  • Tabi uses the reality of light and dark in nature as metaphors for the stages and steps in our lives.

  • Tabi’s greatest success has been the development of The Nature Process, which is a 5-step online program and now, a book.

  • Proceeds from her program have raised huge funds for Tree Sisters, which supports feminine leadership and reforestation.

  • “When I struggle to have faith, I go to nature. When I couldn’t believe in myself, I could believe in nature.”

Biggest Learning:

'Confidence within myself and trust.'

To realise how valuable she is and how valuable her knowledge is to the world.

Because of her interests, Tabi was so used to perceiving herself as weird one in her family that she didn’t want to share her gifts with the world.

It was the most humbling experience of her life to share her knowledge of nature with others and see their transformation.

Welcome!  Today’s SHEro is Heather Ash, who chose to go against the norm and listen to her inner voice regarding having a home birth, which was not a common thing to do in her area.  In fact, in her home state of Georgia, it’s not even legal for midwives to attend home births.

Heather, however, followed her heart.

She says the best thing about her life is being a mum to her two daughters, ages 3 and 7.  Heather encourages other mums through her blog and podcast, Happiness Mama, and works in her own coaching business.

Join me for an inspiring conversation with Heather!

Heather shares how she assumed a hospital birth would be sufficient until she read a book about midwives and doulas, and her mind was changed.  Home births were not common where she lived, and her doctor actually dropped her and other home birth patients as a result of pressure from the medical community.  She chose another Ob-Gyn but never disclosed her desire to have a home birth!

In this episode, Heather discusses:

  • How Heather’s home birth turned out, even though the midwife arrived only a few minutes before the baby!

  • How Heather battled post-partum depression and anxiety but didn’t even realize it until much later.

  • How breastfeeding issues presented a huge challenge that took determination and perseverance to overcome.

  • How Heather was able to spend time at home with both of her daughters after they were born before she had to return to work.

  • How Heather has used her blog to encourage other mums to live their happiest lives.

  • How Heather’s biggest success is to “be here” for her children and spend time with them.

  • How she has grown stronger through her experiences, and she desires to coach other women through their own challenging life experiences.

Biggest Learning:

"I realised how strong I am, and how strong women are"

For over eight years she taught high school ESL, but these days she enjoys encouraging other moms through her blog, HappinessMama, and working on her new coaching business and podcast.

She also loves to drink good coffee, take long walks, listen to podcasts, play with art supplies, and read good books. Outlander is her favorite book series by far, but she also enjoys reading all sorts of books, including personal growth, business, and parenting books.

As a coach and blogger at HappinessMama, she loves helping other mamas live their happiest lives and achieve their creative dreams and goals. A recent graduate of Mama Bliss Coaching School, she is happily creating a coaching business and also starting a podcast, which will launch in September.
